Callistephus chinensis. 50 seeds.
Heirloom variety with large, showy, double blooms with incurved petals. China asters have been cultivated in China and Korea for at least 2,000 years and were thought to be introduced to Europe by French missionaries in 1728. They make excellent cut flowers and ornamental cottage garden plants. Height up to 70cm. Sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost and transplant to a sunny position when the weather has warmed. Flowers mid-late season as the shortening day length stimulates bloom production. May require staking. Sowing depth: 3mm.
