Heirloom beetroot first introduced by F.H. Woodruff and Sons, Connecticut, in 1911. Early maturing variety with smooth-skinned, red, globular roots up to 10cm. The glossy, emerald green, red-veined leaves can also be harvested throughout the season. Grow successively for a continuous harvest. Hardy biennial usually grown as an annual. Sow direct in moist, well-drained soil in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Soak seeds overnight for better germination. Full sun to light shade. Sowing depth: 15mm.
