Heavy-cropping early heirloom variety introduced from Spain in the mid-19th century. Tender green pods up to 25cm long and fragrant black and white flowers. Also known as ‘fava beans.’ Young, tender beans can be eaten raw in salads, while mature beans can be blanched and shelled, or stir-fried with cream and bacon. Height 150cm. Support with stakes at the end of rows and tie string between to support plants. Full sun or part shade. Sow direct from Autumn to Winter. Sowing depth: 50mm
