Heirloom grown since 1875. One of the best home garden varieties with early maturing, large, dark purple, oval-shaped fruit on bushy plants. Frost tender perennial, grown as an annual in cool climates. May also be grown in pots or containers. Grow in full sun in a sheltered position, in rich, well-drained soil and feed regularly with a liquid fertiliser.  Sow in seed trays in Spring and plant out after last frost. Sowing depth 5mm.
